Zoo Boise

The mission of Zoo Boise is to serve as an education and conservation institution that safely and humanely exhibits living animals for the purposes of:

  • Educating children and adults about animals;
  • Animal habitats and their preservation;
  • Encouraging the conservation, protection and propagation of rare and endangered species and their respective habitats;
  • Providing the public with a recreational opportunity to view a variety of live animals exhibited in conditions allowing them to display natural traits;
  • Providing an attraction for tourists and visitors, contributing to the bank of knowledge about animals through limited research.

Zoo Boise is a service of the City of Boise and supported by the Friends of Zoo Boise, a 501(c)(3) membership organization.

Zoo Boise is accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA).  Look for the AZA logo whenever you visit a zoo or aquarium as your assurance that you are supporting a facility dedicated to providing excellent care for animals, a great experience for you, and a better future for all living things.
