Your Place or Ours
We offer lessons both on-site and in your classroom. All of our lessons are hands-on and experiential.
When learning outdoors, we extend and enhance the classroom experience and get kids outside where they learn in new and active ways. The Jim Hall Foothills Learning Center provides a living classroom where children experience nature in all its glory. When traveling to your classroom or meeting place, we use the same interactive, hands-on approach to get kids excited about what they are learning.
On-site and off, the Jim Hall Foothills Learning Center provides education about the Boise Foothills, the surrounding desert environment, and natural resource use and conservation in our communities. It is a place for learning by direct experience with the outdoors. Through these learning opportunities we hope to raise awareness and appreciation of our natural world, the interface between natural and human-made environments, and how we can live more harmoniously with the Earth.
In addition to our lessons, the Jim Hall Foothills Learning Center also offers special events for adults and children looking to learn more about our high desert environment and to experience it first-hand. Check our BEE calendar page for a full listing of these additional educational opportunities.
For teachers that prefer to teach lessons on their own, we have teaching trunks available for checkout with all the materials you need to teach short versions of Jim Hall Foothills Learning Center lessons. We also offer teacher workshops in the summer where you can earn college credit and learn to deliver environmental lessons to your students.
