Lawn & Landscape Class-Roses and Landscape

Caring for roses is a year ‘round job. This course will cover all the important tasks involved in the care of roses in the Boise area. Andrea Wurtz will guide you step by step on how to maintain your roses including pruning techniques, Bacterial Cane Blight identification and tips for preventing pests/diseases. Wurtz is a Master Gardener and Certified Landscape Technician who was responsible for the care and maintenance of Kathryn Albertson Park and all the roses in Ann Morrison Park for a number of years. She and her staff are currently responsible for maintaining the flower beds and landscape in the right-of- way sections along many of the Boise streets as well as in the City parks. She has also spent considerable time in the rose garden in Julia Davis Park. Landscape architect Toby Norton will provide background on landscape design, including orientation, hydrozones, and proper plant placement. A licensed landscape architect, Norton has over 20 years of experience in landscape architecture and project management. Question-and-answer sessions follow the presentation.
