Water Quality Field Experience
- Grades 7 - 12
- 90 minutes
- Boise WaterShed or Your Place
Hike to the Boise River (.5 mile walk) to learn about natural and human impacts to water quality. Students will use water quality testing kits to analyze the temperature, dissolved oxygen, phosphates, turbidity, and pH of the water below the treated water outfall. Students will also learn about bioassessment as they examine and identify aquatic macroinvertebrates (water bugs). Note: If the river water level is high, students will test water at the ponds on the WaterShed’s property.
Offered March – October. Outdoor lesson.
Class size 10 - 30 students, up to 60 students per field trip. Ask about bussing reimbursement.
